Wakad, 21st October 2025: On the second day of Diwali, a major fire destroyed 35 to 40 electric bikes at a showroom in Wakad, Pimpri-Chinchwad, police said. The incident is believed to have been triggered by a battery explosion.
According to the Wakad police, the fire broke out around 3 am at the Garve Bajaj showroom. By the time fire brigade teams arrived at the scene, the bikes were already completely burnt.
“The fire was intense, and it took some time to bring it under control,” a police official said. Initial estimates indicate that the fire started due to the explosion of a bike battery, which rapidly spread to other vehicles.
Authorities have begun investigating the incident and collecting evidence from the site. No casualties were reported, as the fire occurred during the early morning hours when the center was closed.
