Pimpri, 12th November 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was among six pilot cities from India invited to participate in the International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) Global Thematic Networking Workshop, held alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, from November 4 to 6.

Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni and Joint City Engineer Bapu Gaikwad represented PCMC at the prestigious event, which brought together urban planners, city leaders, and sustainability experts from across the world. The sessions focused on key themes such as urban mobility, climate-resilient infrastructure, and sustainable transport systems, encouraging cities to exchange experiences and innovative approaches.

During the workshop, the PCMC delegation engaged with representatives from Leuven, Hamburg, and Victoria, holding detailed discussions on waste-to-energy models, green mobility systems, and smart urban solutions. These exchanges offered valuable insights into how cities worldwide are addressing environmental challenges through innovation, technology, and collaboration.
