Pimpri, 17th November 2025: Women entrepreneurs from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) ‘Sakshama’ project made a strong impression at an international conference recently held at Sandeepani Hometel, Lavale. The initiative—jointly implemented by PCMC’s Social Development Department and Tata Strive—focuses on empowering women’s self-help groups by creating avenues for sustainable livelihoods. Their handcrafted products showcased at the event drew an overwhelming response from delegates.
“The Sakshama project is enabling women to move towards true empowerment. Showcasing their products at a global conference has opened new doors for their economic growth and future market opportunities”, said Mamata Shinde, Deputy Commissioner, PCMC.
The exhibition, organised during the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) conference, featured a range of handmade items produced by women’s groups under the Sakshama programme. Over 90 participating organisations from India and abroad visited the display, showing keen interest in items such as Warli notebooks, files, pen stands, candles, Saraswati frames, fridge magnets, cotton pouches and traditional caps.
Sales Cross Rs 28,000
The stall recorded sales worth Rs 28,000 during the conference. Additionally, 75 Saraswati frames created by Sakshama women were presented as welcome gifts to participating companies. Delegates also expressed interest in hosting similar exhibitions at their corporate offices in the future.
Gurwinder Singh, a participant from Dubai, placed a special request for Warli combo diaries after visiting the display. IAF organiser Vrunda Manorkar appreciated the efforts of PCMC’s Social Development Department for facilitating the initiative.
