Pimpri, 3rd December 2025: A major tragedy was prevented in Vallabhnagar on Tuesday evening after a timely and coordinated effort by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Department saved a young man who was attempting to jump from the second floor of a building near Killedar Garden.
The incident occurred around 5:45 pm when local residents spotted the distressed youth and immediately alerted the Fire Control Room. Responding without delay, a team from the Pimpri Fire Station reached the spot and initiated a structured rescue operation.
Fire officials said the team used a calm and compassionate approach to engage the individual in conversation, while positioning themselves strategically. At the precise moment, Fireman Deepak Kothe swiftly moved in and restrained the young man before he could jump. The team then safely brought him down to the ground.
Deputy Commissioner of PCMC, Venkatesh Durvas, praised the firefightersтАЩ timing and composure, saying, тАЬFor firefighters, every emergency is a race against time. The Vallabhnagar incident was no different. The rescue teamтАЩs immediate assessment of the situation and their trained execution ensured the individual was safely brought down.тАЭ
Fire Officer Rishikant Chipade also commended the teamтАЩs efforts, stating, тАЬThe way the rescue team handled the situation is not only commendable but a matter of pride for the city. In such unpredictable scenarios, even the smallest misstep can lead to serious consequences. Yet, the team remained calm, recognised the risks, and used the right techniques at the right moment.тАЭ
The operation was led by Senior Fireman Bhushan Yewle, with support from Firemen Deepak Kothe, Tejas Pawar, Jay Jamadar, Sneha Jagtap, and Driver Vishal Banekar.
PCMC Fire Department has urged citizens to immediately dial 101 if they come across any such emergency, stressing that timely reporting can help save lives.
