Pimpri, 5th December 2025: In a crackdown on unauthorized outdoor advertisements, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has removed 1,770 illegal hoardings, banners, posters, and kiosks over the past year. The Sky Sign and Licensing Department has also collected fines totaling тВ╣23.19 lakh from 111 individuals and business owners, while 17 repeat offenders have been booked.
The city has 1,679 authorised hoardings, but public spaces continue to be cluttered with illegal advertisements related to weddings, birthdays, political campaigns, and religious events. These unauthorized displays not only spoil the cityтАЩs aesthetic but also obstruct traffic. Despite repeated notices to political parties and elected representatives, illegal posters and flex boards remain a widespread nuisance.
With civic elections approaching, political aspirants have intensified promotional activities through illegal publicity materials, prompting the civic body to tighten enforcement. Special squads from all eight regional offices have been conducting removal drives between 14 October 2024 and 30 November 2025.
During inspections, officials found several hoardings without the mandatory QR code and information plate, both of which are required under High Court directives. Any structure lacking these details will be deemed illegal and its licence will be cancelled, officials warned.
Advertisers have also been instructed to promptly install QR codes and nameplates on authorised sites.
PCMC has urged citizens, businesses, organisations, and political groups to stop erecting illegal hoardings. Strict fines and criminal action will be taken against offenders, said Rajesh Aghale, Deputy Commissioner of the Sky Sign and Licensing Department.
