Pimpri-Chinchwad, 13th December 2025: Vehicular movement on the Shrimant Sarsenapati Khande Rao Dabhade Bridge across the Indrayani River in Alandi has been suspended after structural weaknesses were detected during an inspection. The 12-metre-wide bridge, which connects Chhanholi Budruk and Charholi Khurd, has been closed to all categories of traffic with immediate effect in the interest of public safety.
Officials stated that the bridge, developed as part of the Shri Kshetra DehuтАУAlandi pilgrimage infrastructure project and falling under the DighiтАУAlandi traffic division, has shown signs of deterioration that could pose serious risks to commuters. Emergency repair and strengthening work is set to commence without delay.
To minimise inconvenience and prevent congestion, the traffic department has implemented a comprehensive diversion plan while restoration work is underway.
Alternative Routes :
Vehicles travelling from Dehu Phata are being redirected through Alankapuram Chowk or Tapkir Chowk, proceeding via Panjarpol Chowk, Godown Chowk, and onward to Moshi. Traffic approaching from Magazine Chowk is being diverted at Alankapuram Chowk, from where motorists must proceed onto the PuneтАУNashik Highway.
Similarly, vehicles at Dehu Phata Chowk are being routed towards Bharatmata Chowk before joining the PuneтАУNashik Highway, while traffic from Tulapur is being diverted via Markal village, turning towards Koyali village, and then continuing along the ChakanтАУShikrapur Highway.
The traffic restrictions and diversion orders have been issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil.
Police officials have urged commuters and pilgrims travelling to Alandi to strictly adhere to traffic advisories, use designated alternative routes, and cooperate with enforcement personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the repair period.
