Pimpri, 17th February 2026: Traffic movement in Hinjewadi will be regulated on Thursday (February 19) in view of the Shiv Jayanti procession, with police announcing temporary diversions and road closures to manage the expected surge in public participation.
As per orders issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil, the special traffic plan will be implemented from 3 pm to 11 pm.
The procession is scheduled to commence from Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Hinjewadi Gaothan and culminate at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. Authorities anticipate a large gathering of citizens during the celebration.
To prevent traffic congestion, vehicular movement on the stretch between Kasturi Chowk and Chhatrapati Shri Shivaji Maharaj Chowk will remain completely closed during the specified hours.
Diversion Routes
Police have outlined the following alternative routes:
-From Marunji Y Junction: Vehicles will be diverted via Kasturi Chowk, Vinode Vasti and Indian Oil Chowk.
-From Mezza Nine Chowk towards Hinjewadi Gaothan: Traffic will be rerouted from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk through Indian Oil Chowk, Kasturi Chowk and Vinode Vasti.
-Vehicles taking U-turn at Shivaji Chowk towards Jambhulkar Gym Chowk and Hinjewadi Gaothan: Motorists must proceed straight from Jambhulkar Gym Chowk via Indian Oil Chowk, Kasturi Chowk and Vinode Vasti Chowk.
Additionally, of the two lanes from Mezza Nine Chowk towards Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, the left lane will remain closed, and all vehicles will use the right lane.
Police officials have appealed to motorists to adhere to the revised routes and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the procession route.
Authorities clarified that the traffic measures are precautionary and aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of the procession while minimising inconvenience to daily commuters, particularly in the busy Hinjewadi IT corridor.
