Pimpri, 17th February 2026 The recruitment drive for 462 constable posts in the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has received a strong response, with 14,779 applications submitted, officials said. Of these, 5,423 applicants are graduates or postgraduates from various academic streams, underscoring intense competition for government jobs.
Among the applicants are 139 M.Com degree holders, 156 engineering graduates, three M.Tech graduates, one law graduate, two trained teachers, 59 MBA degree holders, 93 M.Sc graduates, 23 MCA degree holders, 11 MCS graduates, 18 MSW postgraduates, and 294 postgraduates in Arts, along with candidates from disciplines such as hotel management, journalism, and physical education.
Physical efficiency tests began on February 11 at the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sports Complex in Indrayaninagar, Bhosari. The selection process includes a 50-mark physical test comprising a 100-metre sprint, shot put, and a 1,600-metre run. For women candidates, the test consists of an 800-metre run, 100-metre sprint, and shot put.
Officials said candidates have been arriving at the venue as early as 4 a.m. Attendance is recorded through barcode scanning at the entrance, followed by measurement of height and chest parameters. Documents are verified before eligible candidates are issued RFID tags and chest numbers. Applicants who fail any of the physical tests are declared ineligible.
Additional Commissioner of Police Sarang Avhad said the recruitment process is being conducted transparently and that personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the examination.
Observers note that the high number of highly educated applicants reflects increasing competition for entry-level government posts amid limited employment opportunities.
