Pune, 16th March 2026: IAS officer Vijay Suryawanshi on Monday who was appointed the new civic chief of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) assumed charge on Monday. The post was vacant since October last year and Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar was given the additional charge in absence of a full-time commissioner.
A 2006-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, Suryawanshi was earlier serving as the divisional commissioner of the Konkan division.
After taking charge, Suryawanshi held discussions with civic representatives and officials on ongoing development works and key civic issues. He also reviewed the functioning of various municipal departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Suryawanshi said his focus would be on ensuring efficient civic services and speeding up ongoing infrastructure projects. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts among departments to address the cityтАЩs growing urban challenges.
