Pimpri-Chinchwad/Rajasthan, 18th March 2026: A leisure trip to Leh-Ladakh turned fatal for a group of young men from Chinchwad after a tragic road accident in Rajasthan claimed three lives during their return journey.
The victims, all residents of Thergaon, Wakad, and Mhalunge areas, were travelling in a convoy of three SUVs when one of the vehicles was involved in a devastating crash. The force of the collision left the vehicle mangled, leading to the deaths of three occupants on the spot.
Several others travelling in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Authorities stated that one of the deceased was distantly related to Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne.
Local police reached the accident site shortly after the incident, carried out a preliminary inspection, and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The tragedy occurred during the Holi festive period, intensifying the sense of loss back home. News of the incident has cast a pall of gloom over Pimpri-Chinchwad, with residents expressing deep shock and grief over the untimely deaths of the young travellers.
