Pimpri Chinchwad, 21st March 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has cracked down on vendors for using banned plastic and flouting cleanliness norms. The civic officials have recovered fines worth Rs 31,000 from violators while plastic materials was also seized during a drive in тАШCтАЩ ward area.
During the drive in ward No. 8 at Indrayani Nagar, officials fined shopkeepers Rs 10,000 for using banned plastic and seized around 5 kg of plastic. An additional Rs 8,000 penalty was imposed at the same location for unhygienic practices, littering and continued plastic use.
In ward No. 9 at Nehru Nagar, officials collected Rs 13,000 in fines and seized around 3 kg of plastic. Officials said the drive is part of ongoing efforts to curb plastic usage and improve cleanliness in the city.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner (health) Pradeep Thengal said strict action is being taken against violations. тАЬPromoting a plastic-free city is crucial for environmental protection and public health. Citizens must follow waste segregation rules and avoid using plastic,тАЭ he said.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Kiran Kumar More warned that similar action will continue against violators. тАЬBusinesses must adopt eco-friendly alternatives. Any violation will invite penalties and stricter measures,тАЭ he said.
