Pimpri, 4th April 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate is planning to expand its policing network with the addition of five new police stations to strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety in the rapidly growing region.
Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey has submitted a proposal to the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking approval to establish new police stations at Pirangut, Jambe, Pimple Saudagar, Moshi and Dehugaon. If the proposal is approved, the total number of police stations under the commissionerate will increase from 25 to 30.
When Choubey assumed charge, the commissionerate had 17 police stations, four police divisions and two zones. Since then, the structure has expanded significantly and now includes 25 police stations, eight divisions and four zones. A cyber police station has also been set up, along with dedicated branches for traffic, special operations, cybercrime and economic offences. In addition, new posts have been created, including one Additional Commissioner, five Deputy Commissioners of Police and ten Assistant Commissioners of Police.
The proposal also includes the bifurcation of existing police stations such as Bavdhan, Hinjawadi, Sangvi, MIDC Bhosari, Dighi, Chikhli and Dehuroad to create the five new police stations.
A separate proposal has also been submitted to sanction posts for the already created Zone IV, which currently does not have approved staffing.
According to the proposal, the commissionerate has sought approval for one Deputy Commissioner of Police, 20 Police Inspectors, 30 Assistant Police Inspectors, 80 Sub-Inspectors, 820 police personnel and 10 sanitation workers.
Commissioner Choubey said the addition of new police stations would help create a safer environment for residents by improving response time and strengthening policing in rapidly expanding urban areas.
