Pimpri Chinchwad, 15th April 2026: The Chikhali Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation has taken an aggressive stand over the alleged unjust burden of water expenses borne by residents for several years, demanding that the entire cost incurred by housing societies on purchasing water since 2019 be recovered from developers.
The federation said that several builders had given written undertakings at the time of launching their projects, assuring that they would provide water supply to societies at their own expense. However, these commitments were widely violated, resulting in a direct financial burden on residents. It stressed that the issue goes beyond administrative lapses and amounts to a serious economic injustice to citizens.
In view of this, the federation has demanded strict action against developers who have failed to honour their undertakings, including the registration of criminal cases. It has also demanded that such builders be denied any future construction permissions or completion certificates.
Federation office-bearers said shielding builders who fail to meet their obligations undermines the rights of residents. тАЬIf the administration does not take firm action now, such practices will only increase,тАЭ they said, adding that the issue has now become a major test for the civic administration.
тАЬEvery rupee paid by society residents towards water since 2019 rightfully belongs to them. Builders have violated their written undertakings and imposed an unfair burden on citizens. The entire cost must be recovered from the concerned developers and strict action should be taken against them. Otherwise, we will be forced to launch strong protests to protect citizensтАЩ rights,тАЭ said Sanjeevan Sangale, president of the Chikhali Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation.
