Pimpri Chinchwad, 17th April 2026: A day after liquor bottles were found inside a washroom at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) headquarters, the civic administration on Friday issued fresh directives to tighten security checks at the main building and all municipal offices.
The circular mandates stricter screening of officers, employees, contractors, consultants and visitors entering civic premises. It states that all staff members must wear identity cards and no employee will be allowed entry to any municipal office without valid identification.
Visitors entering the main administrative building will be issued gate passes only after necessary verification and security checks. The administration has also directed security personnel to ensure that all bags carried by employees, contractual staff, consultants and visitors are scanned through baggage screening machines before entry.
In another measure, security guards posted at the in-gate and out-gate have been instructed not to allow Metro commuters to park vehicles within the municipal headquarters premises. The parking facility will now remain reserved only for civic officials, employees, elected representatives and citizens visiting the office for official work.
The circular further states that no public visitors should be allowed entry into municipal offices after office hours, specified as after 6.15 pm.
Authorities warned that any negligence, laxity or delay in implementing the security norms would invite disciplinary action against the concerned security guards and supervisors.
The move comes after liquor bottles were found in a washroom at the PCMC headquarters, triggering outrage and prompting the civic administration to order an inquiry into how such items entered a sensitive government building despite security arrangements and CCTV surveillance.
Officials said the latest measures are aimed at restoring discipline and strengthening security across civic establishments.
