Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th April 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has directed owners of all hoarding structures in the city to remove flex advertisements between May 15 and June 1, 2026, citing the risk of pre-monsoon rain and strong winds during the period.
Civic officials said the precautionary measure has been taken to prevent accidents caused by hoardings collapsing during stormy weather. The city currently has 1,631 authorised hoardings, and notices have been issued to all owners.
Officials said large and elevated advertising structures have posed safety risks during storms in previous years, with some incidents resulting in casualties. They said the latest order was issued after repeated concerns over inadequate maintenance and safety compliance.
A review meeting chaired by Joint Commissioner Manoj Lonkar was recently held, during which advertisers were instructed to carry out physical inspections of their structures.
The civic body has asked hoarding owners to ensure that foundations are structurally sound, iron frames are free from rust and all necessary repairs are carried out. Application of anti-rust coating has also been made mandatory.
Officials further said hoardings found in dangerous conditions must be removed immediately.
In addition, PCMC has made it compulsory for every advertisement structure to display a QR code containing ownership and approval details. Hoardings without QR codes or ownership information will be treated as unauthorised and removed directly.
