Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th April 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Thursday carried out a major anti-encroachment drive under its тАШDтАЩ ward, demolishing 43 illegal tin sheds spread across 63,184 sq ft in wards 25 and 26.
The action began at 10 am and targeted unauthorised structures between Jagtap Dairy and Kaspate Vasti in Ward 26 (27 sheds), and between Wakad Chowk and Bhujbal Chowk in Ward 25 (16 sheds). The civic body said the demolition was carried out in accordance with notices issued to the occupants.
This was the second consecutive day of action by civic officials in Wakad area. Earlier on Wednesday, the civic officials had demolished 33 tin shades covering over 74,755 square feet of area.
The operation was conducted on the orders of municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi, under the guidance of additional commissioner Trupti Sandbhor, and led by тАШDтАЩ ward officer Ashwini Gaikwad. Several senior officials from the encroachment and building departments were part of the drive.
A large deployment was made for the operation, including around 150 civic officials and staff, 24 police officers, 90 police personnel, and 120 Maharashtra Security Force personnel. In addition, 60 labourers were engaged, along with heavy machinery including two tractor trolleys and 16 JCBs. A fire brigade vehicles and two ambulances were kept on standby for emergencies.
Civic officials said the drive aims to curb the growing number of illegal constructions and ensure safe and planned urban development. They warned that unauthorised structures will not be tolerated and urged citizens to adhere to building regulations, failing which strict action will be taken.
Municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said controlling illegal constructions and providing safe, well-planned civic infrastructure remains a top priority. He added that the ongoing drive in the тАШDтАЩ ward will continue in the coming days.
