Ravet, 16th May 2026: Panic gripped the Ravet-Tathawade area of Pimpri-Chinchwad on Friday night after unidentified assailants on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at a prominent furniture showroom. The incident occurred at around 9.20 pm near AJ Furniture Mall on the BRTS road under the jurisdiction of the Ravet Police Station. No casualties or injuries were reported.
According to preliminary police investigations, two persons arrived at the spot on a bike and allegedly fired multiple rounds towards the showroom before fleeing. Several bullets struck the shopтАЩs signage and glass frontage, damaging the facade and shattering large sections of glass.
Soon after the firing, police personnel, senior officers and Crime Branch teams reached the spot and began an investigation. The area was cordoned off while forensic and ballistic experts collected evidence from the scene.
The case took a dramatic turn after a social media post claiming responsibility for the firing surfaced online and quickly went viral. The post allegedly mentioned the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and contained threats directed at the owner of the furniture establishment.
Police officials said they are verifying the authenticity of the viral message and investigating whether it was genuinely linked to members of the gang or circulated by someone attempting to create fear and confusion.
Investigators are also probing the possible connection of the social media account to Pune-based Shubham Lonkar, whose name has earlier surfaced in high-profile criminal investigations, including the Baba Siddique murder case and the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit ShettyтАЩs residence in Mumbai. Lonkar is currently absconding, police said.
Special teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined, and technical surveillance is being used to track the movement of the suspects before and after the incident.
Police have urged traders and business owners in the city to immediately inform authorities about any extortion threats, suspicious messages or intimidation attempts.
