Pimpri Chinchwad: The property tax department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched its tax collection drive for the financial year 2026-27, with women’s self-help groups (SHGs) distributing property tax bills door-to-door across the city.
According to civic officials, women from SHGs have so far distributed 5,09,747 property tax bills to residential, non-residential, industrial and other property owners by visiting them personally.
The civic administration has appealed to citizens to pay their property tax on time and avail themselves of various concessions offered by the corporation. Officials said taxpayers can avail of discounts of up to 10% by paying property tax through the online mode and urged citizens to make maximum use of the facility.
Between April 1 and May 12, 2026, SHG members distributed over 5.09 lakh bills across the city. PCMC currently has 7,66,385 registered properties, of which 1,53,902 property owners have already paid their taxes. The civic body has collected Rs 148 crore in revenue so far, officials said, adding that citizens are responding positively to the online payment system.
Considering the intense summer heat and rising cases of heatstroke, the civic administration has advised residents to opt for online payment methods to avoid stepping out unnecessarily. Officials said online payment is safe, quick and convenient, enabling citizens to pay taxes from home within minutes while also avoiding long queues.
Deputy commissioner Sachin Pawar appealed to citizens who have not yet received their bills either online or through door-to-door distribution to contact the concerned tax collection office immediately.
The civic body has also started issuing pre-seizure notices along with tax bills to defaulters. So far, notices have been served to 24,626 defaulting property owners, asking them to clear pending dues along with the current year’s property tax to avoid punitive action.
Mayor Ravi Landge said property tax remains an important source of revenue for the city’s development and urged citizens to cooperate with the municipal corporation by paying taxes on time.
