Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th May 2026: In a major push to strengthen electricity infrastructure in rapidly developing parts of Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has approved a Rs 291.52-crore development plan aimed at upgrading power distribution facilities across the Bhosari Assembly constituency.
The project, cleared under the Power Distribution Enhancement Programme, is expected to significantly boost electricity infrastructure in the fast-growing residential belt of Chikhali, Moshi and Charholi over the next decade.
According to officials, the detailed project report was prepared after assessing future electricity demand arising from rapid urbanisation, new townships, industrial growth and increasing population in Pimpri Chinchwad.
The project includes construction of 10 new substations, 220 km of high-tension power lines, 150 km of low-tension lines, installation of 100 new transformers and capacity enhancement of 128 existing transformers. The plan also includes development of 105 Ring Main Units (RMUs), 160 feeder pillars and deployment of modern power distribution technology.
Officials said the upgraded infrastructure is expected to improve the quality and reliability of power supply in Chikhali, Moshi, Charholi, Dighi and nearby MIDC areas, while reducing incidents of voltage fluctuation, overload and technical faults.
At present, the Bhosari division has over 4.58 lakh electricity consumers, and the existing system is under growing pressure due to rising demand, officials said.
The proposal follows continuous follow-up by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, according to a statement issued by the legislatorтАЩs office.
Landge said the project would help create тАЬfuture-ready electricity infrastructureтАЭ for the constituency and support long-term residential, industrial and commercial development in the region.
