Chakan, 16th October 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate is set to expand its administrative structure with the creation of two new police stations in the Chakan and Mhalunge MIDC areas. The proposal, submitted to the government, has been approved by a high-level committee, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Shivaji Pawar confirmed on Wednesday.
As per the decision, the existing Chakan Police Station will be split, giving rise to Chakan South Police Station, while the Mhalunge MIDC Police Station will be divided to create North Mhalunge MIDC Police Station. Following these additions, the total number of police stations under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate will increase to 24.
Alongside the new police stations, the government has approved three additional DCP posts and six new Assistant Commissioner positions. Currently, the Commissionerate has six Deputy Commissioners overseeing three police zones, the Crime Branch, Headquarters, and Traffic Branch. With the approval of three new posts, the total strength of Deputy Commissioners will rise to eight.
Similarly, the number of Assistant Commissioners will increase from 13 to 19, including one Assistant Commissioner of the Wireless Department. This expansion aims to address the administrative load arising from the growing number of police stations and enhanced policing responsibilities.
Pimpri-Chinchwad currently operates three police zones, but a proposal to create a fourth zone has been submitted to the government and is expected to be approved soon. The Commissionerate also has two posts of Additional Police Commissioners, though currently only one is functioning due to a demotion; the restoration of posts is planned after the Deputy Commissioner positions are filled.
Dr. Pawar stated, тАЬThe creation of Chakan South and North Mhalunge police stations, along with additional DCP and ACP posts, will strengthen policing efficiency and ensure better administration across the region.тАЭ
