Pimpri, 18th October 2025: In a case highlighting the use of technology in crime, two burglars who used Google Maps to plan house break-ins have been arrested by Crime Branch Unit 5 of Pimpri Chinchwad police.
The accused, Anand Singh Parvat Singh Sardar and Gurudeep Anand Singh Siglikar, both residents of Rajasthan, were apprehended after police found that they had been selecting high-end housing societies via Google Maps while sitting in a hotel and later carrying out burglaries. Stolen property worth тВ╣3 lakh has been recovered from them.
The duo, described as professional burglars from Rajasthan, had been targeting homes across Pimpri-Chinchwad. In one instance, an unidentified group broke into a house in the Old Sangvi area and stole gold and silver ornaments. The case, originally registered at Sangvi Police Station, was handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
Under the guidance of Police Inspector Arvind Pawar, Unit 5 conducted a detailed technical investigation, inspected crime scenes, and reviewed footage from 100 to 125 CCTV cameras.
The investigation revealed that the accused had used a stolen two-wheeler during the burglaries. Further inquiries confirmed that Anand Singh and Gurudeep Singh were residents of Dungarpur, Rajasthan. A police team comprising PSI Bharat Gosavi, Mayuresh Salunkhe, Gaus Nadaf, Kunal Shinde, and Ravi Pawar traveled to Rajasthan and successfully arrested the duo.
Police sources stated that a third accomplice, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, would select high-end societies on Google Maps, study surrounding areas, and plan escape routes before the burglaries. The trio would then execute the thefts according to their plan.
The operation was carried out by the dedicated team of Crime Branch Unit 5, and a search is ongoing for the third accused.
