Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th November 2025: In response to a rising number of accidents involving heavy vehicles in Hinjawadi and Wakad areas, a high-level meeting was held at the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate today to formulate a comprehensive solution plan.
The meeting was attended by Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Commissioner of PMRDA Deepak Singla, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Sarang Awad, Deputy Commissioner Traffic Vivek Patil, Deputy Commissioner Zone 2 Vishal Gaikwad, RTO Sandesh Chavan, Deputy RTO Rahul Jadhav, and other senior officials.
After detailed discussions, the following measures were decided:
Regulation of RMC Plants: Notices will be issued to ready-mix concrete (RMC) plant operators working illegally through PMRDA. Action will be taken against those operating without proper licenses.
Speed Limit Enforcement: The speed limit for heavy vehicles will be capped at 30 km/h. Compliance will be monitored using GPS systems and speed guns.
Safety and Training Initiatives: A joint team of the RTO, traffic department, and local police will conduct safety inspections of heavy vehicles, verify driver licenses, and provide training on traffic rules and regulations at RMC plant locations.
Vehicle Modifications and Co-Drivers: To prevent accidents caused by rear wheels of dumpers, haywas, and mixers, the RTO will enforce measures including the presence of a co-driver or cleaner with the driver, and the installation of bumpers and cameras to cover the side wheels.
Police officials said these measures aim to reduce fatal accidents and enhance road safety for commuters and pedestrians in the industrial hubs of Pimpri Chinchwad.
