Pimpri-Chinchwad, 7th December 2025: Bavdhan Police on Sunday detained suspended Sub-Registrar Ravindra Balkrushna Taru in connection with the alleged illegal transfer of 40 acres of government-owned Mahar Watan land in PuneтАЩs Mundhwa area. The land deal has been under investigation for suspected financial fraud and evasion of stamp duty.
The case, registered on November 6 based on a complaint filed by Joint District Registrar Santosh Hingane, names three individuals as accused тАФ Digvijay Amar Singh Patil, Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani and Sub-Registrar Taru. The police maintain that the trio conspired to execute a sale deed for the government land without paying stamp duty and cess amounting to Rs 5.89 crore.
Officials stated that the suspicious registration took place on May 20, 2025. Following the FIR, Taru was suspended from service on charges of facilitating the fraudulent transaction.
Taru was taken into custody from his home in Bhor tehsil, Pune district on Sunday evening. Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad said, тАЬBavdhan Police have arrested suspended Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru in the Mundhwa land case. He will be produced before the court for police custody remand. The inquiry into the matter continues.тАЭ
Two FIRs have been filed this year concerning land dealings involving Amadea Enterprises LLP тАФ a firm in which Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is a partner. While the Mundhwa land case was lodged at Bavdhan Police Station, the Khadak Police Station registered another case a day later involving a separate land parcel in Bopodi. Taru has been named only in the Bavdhan case, whereas Tejwani and Patil are accused in both matters.
The Pune Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had earlier apprehended Sheetal Tejwani from her residence. Investigators say she allegedly obtained a power of attorney from the rightful owners and used it to facilitate the illegal transaction. She remains in custody and is being questioned.
тАЬWe are moving to secure her custody in our case as well,тАЭ DCP Gaikwad added. тАЬBoth accused persons will be interrogated in detail as part of the ongoing investigation.тАЭ
Meanwhile, Digvijay Patil тАФ cousin of Parth Ajit Pawar and partner in the firm тАФ has not yet been arrested. Police sources said no additional accused have been added to the case as of now.
