Pimple Nilakh, 19th December 2025: A brief street-side exchange captured on camera has sparked a wider conversation on traffic behaviour in urban neighbourhoods, after a video showing a foreign national questioning two-wheeler riders for using a footpath as a shortcut went viral on social media.
The incident, reported from the Pimple Nilakh area, shows the man calmly confronting the riders and explaining the risks posed by such actions. His remarks, focused on pedestrian safety rather than confrontation, have struck a chord with viewers, many of whom see the episode as a reflection of everyday traffic violations across the city.
Using footpaths to bypass congestion remains a frequent occurrence in residential pockets of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Traffic experts warn that such behaviour not only endangers pedestrians but also exposes riders to sudden obstacles and accidents, especially in areas with children, elderly residents and persons with disabilities.
Footpaths are intended exclusively for pedestrians, and their misuse undermines the safety infrastructure designed to separate vehicular and foot traffic. Road safety advocates note that even minor violationsтАФsuch as riding on pavements, overspeeding, or ignoring right-of-way rulesтАФcan have serious consequences.
Officials and safety campaigners continue to stress that adherence to basic driving and riding norms can significantly reduce accidents. Wearing helmets, maintaining safe speeds, respecting pedestrian space and avoiding pavements are among the simplest yet most effective measures, they say.
As the city grapples with increasing traffic pressure, the incident has once again highlighted the need for disciplined driving to ensure safer and more orderly streets for everyone.
