Pune, 7th February 2026: Director General of Police (DGP) Sadanand Date on Friday ordered strict action to curb gang activities and organised crime in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune district.
A review meeting on law and order and recent crime incidents was held on Friday evening, February 6, at the Wireless Communication Department office in Pashan. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinayakumar Chaubey, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill, along with other senior police officers, were present.
During the meeting, DGP Date reviewed the overall law and order situation. He noted that Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the surrounding district are rapidly expanding, with several industrial zones attracting large numbers of workers from other districts and states. In this context, he directed the police to dismantle organised crime networks operating in the region.
The DGP also instructed officers to take strong action against drug trafficking and the illegal sale of narcotic substances. The police commissioners and the rural SP briefed him on the preventive measures taken against gang members and habitual offenders.
In view of the district council elections scheduled for Saturday (February 7), Date reviewed the security arrangements and directed officials to deploy additional police personnel at sensitive polling stations to ensure peaceful and fair voting.
