Pimpri-Chinchwad, 13th March 2026: The district food and civil supplies department on Friday seized 57 domestic LPG cylinders and several empty cylinders from a gas agency godown in Pimpri Chinchwad after officials detected irregularities during an inspection.
According to officials, the departmentтАЩs flying squad carried out the inspection following a complaint lodged by a customer. During the visit, the team found that a large number of cylinders meant for household use were stored at the premises without the necessary authorisation.
Circle Officer Vijay Kumar Kshirsagar said the action was initiated after citizens raised concerns about possible violations at the agency. тАЬActing on a complaint, our team inspected the gas agency premises and noticed multiple irregularities. During the inspection of the godown, we found LPG cylinders being stored without the required permission,тАЭ he said.

Officials also noted that the domestic LPG cylinders, linked to a gas agency operating in the Kasarwadi area, were kept in conditions that did not meet prescribed safety norms. The department has seized the cylinders and initiated further legal action.
Authorities said a First Information Report (FIR) will be registered under the relevant provisions of the Essential Commodities Act.
The Act empowers the government to regulate the production, storage and distribution of essential commodities, including LPG, particularly during supply constraints such as the current shortage linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
