Pimpri Chinchwad, 20th March 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched a ‘Waste to Wonder’ competition for its ward offices on the occasion of World Recycling Day, with the aim of promoting cleanliness and encouraging creative reuse of waste materials.
The initiative, being implemented by the civic body’s health department, will be conducted across all eight regional offices, covering 32 wards. Officials said the competition seeks to blend cleanliness with creativity by motivating participants to reuse discarded items and convert them into artistic installations, while also spreading awareness about environmental conservation.
Under the contest, participants will create innovative artworks using waste and transform garbage-prone spots into visually appealing spaces. The civic body said the initiative is expected to enhance the city’s aesthetics while promoting sustainable practices among citizens.
Registrations for the competition are already open and it will close on March 24. The participants are required to sign up through an online link provided by the civic administration.
Assistant commissioner Kiran Kumar More said the initiative would help improve the city’s appearance while encouraging an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Mayor Ravi Landge said the competition would inspire citizens to adopt creative reuse practices. “The initiative will not only promote cleanliness but also encourage people to reuse waste and make the city more sustainable,” he said.
Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi added that the initiative goes beyond cleanliness and aims to instil environmentally responsible habits among citizens. “By spreading awareness about waste management and recycling, the competition will help make the city cleaner and more sustainable,” he said.
