Pimpri-Chinchwad, 18th March 2026: Stepping up its efforts to enforce cleanliness and environmental norms, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) carried out a focused drive against single-use plastic and public nuisance, collecting Rs 21,500 in fines from violators.
The enforcement action was undertaken in Ward No. 17 under the B Ward Office, where officials identified multiple instances of banned plastic usage, littering, and spitting in public spaces. Civic authorities noted that the crackdown was necessary as several individuals and businesses continued to ignore repeated warnings.
A total of nine violations were recorded during the drive. Of these, three cases attracted fines of Rs 5,000 each, one case was penalised Rs 2,000, four cases Rs 1,000 each, and one case Rs 500.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, along with Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Thengal, and Assistant Commissioner Kiran Kumar More. The on-ground action was led by Assistant Health Officer Sudhir Waghmare, with Health Inspector Rupali Salve and her team carrying out inspections and enforcement.
Officials said similar drives are being implemented across different parts of the city as part of a broader strategy to curb environmental violations and improve urban hygiene.
Reiterating its stance, the civic body stated that strict action will continue against those violating sanitation rules. Citizens have been urged to avoid single-use plastic and maintain cleanliness in public spaces.
