Pimpri Chinchwad, 1st April 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has recorded property tax collection of over Rs 961 crore for the financial year 2025тАУ26, marking another strong performance by the civic body. Last year, the civic body had collected Rs 966 crore in property tax.
Although the civic body fell short of its annual target of Rs 1,050 Crore, officials said the overall revenue has been commendable, given that staff were engaged in election duties for nearly three months, during which enforcement and recovery drives were scaled down.
Out of around 7.32 lakh registered properties in the city, as many as 6,31,615 property owners paid their taxes this year.
To boost recovery, the corporation undertook several measures, including seizure of properties of defaulters, disconnection of water supply, publication of names of major defaulters in newspapers, and awareness campaigns through hoardings, pamphlets, social media and public announcements.
The Amnesty Scheme, introduced to provide relief to defaulters, also played a key role. Between March 1 and March 31, as many as 70,238 defaulters availed the scheme, contributing Rs 202.17 crore in just 31 days. Rebates amounting to Rs 55.47 crore were extended under the scheme.
Among other departments, the building permission and unauthorised construction control department generated Rs 676 crore, followed by the water supply department with Rs 80.74 crore, the sky sign and licence department with Rs 21.5 crore, and the slum rehabilitation department with Rs 1.10 crore.
Standing committee chairman Abhishek Barne said the rise in revenue was the result of coordinated efforts by officials and staff, and would contribute to strengthening infrastructure and civic services in the city.
Meanwhile, the water supply department recorded its highest-ever recovery, collecting Rs 80.74 crore during the financial year.
