Pune, 1st April 2026: Pimpri-Chinchwad police have busted an illegal racket involving the diversion of LPG from a tanker into domestic cylinders near Bhose village along the ChakanтАУShikrapur Road.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the North Chakan police station conducted a raid in the early hours of Tuesday (March 31) and apprehended three individuals involved in the activity.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ambadas Rohidas Gade (42), Akshay Ramesh Mungse (25) and Navnath Ankush Hojage (34). Police said the trio was operating near the Indane Oil plant area, where a tanker had been stationed.
Investigations revealed that the accused had tampered with the tankerтАЩs seal and were using rubber nozzle pipes to illegally transfer LPG from Indane Oil tanker into domestic cylinders. Officials termed the act highly hazardous, stating that the process was carried out without any safety precautions, posing a significant threat to both the accused and nearby residents.
Preliminary findings suggest that the gas was being diverted for illegal sale at inflated prices.
Following a complaint lodged by police constable Bhairoba Yadav, a case has been registered against the accused. During the operation, police seized equipment along with the gas tanker, with the total value of the confiscated material estimated at Rs 49.57 lakh. Further investigation is in progress.
