Pune, 18th April 2026: The Maharashtra government has approved a revised organisational structure for the Registration and Stamps Department in Pune, introducing new offices and expanding staffing to manage the rising volume of property registrations in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Under the new structure, the department will have a total of 3,952 posts, addressing a long-pending restructuring proposal that has been under discussion since 2016. The decision comes amid a significant increase in property transactions, documentation, and the expansion of sub-registrar offices.
As part of the overhaul, two new Joint District Registrar (Class-1) offices will be established to cater specifically to Pimpri-Chinchwad and PuneтАЩs suburban areas. Officials said this is expected to ease the burden on existing offices and improve the speed of registration processes.
The move is aimed at streamlining operations as rapid urbanisation and a surge in real estate activity continue to put pressure on the current system. Authorities believe the redistribution of workload will help reduce delays and enhance service delivery for citizens.
