Pimpri Chinchwad, 20th April 2026: A Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)-run Urdu medium school in Kharalwadi came under scrutiny after students were allegedly served breakfast containing insects on Saturday morning, leading to complaints from parents and an official inquiry.
The incident reportedly surfaced around 9.50 am when children noticed insects in the meal served under the school nutrition programme and immediately informed teachers. Images of the contaminated food later circulated widely, sparking concern among parents and local residents.
Following the complaints, civic authorities said a detailed investigation would be conducted and strict action would be taken if lapses were found.
Mamta Shinde, deputy commissioner, PCMC, said, тАЬWe have received the complaint and will conduct a detailed inquiry. Appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.тАЭ
Sources said the complaint was initially raised by a concerned parent or a member of the school staff after the contaminated meal was noticed.
Former vice-chairman of the PCMC health department grievance redressal committee Sagar Chavan has also submitted a written complaint to Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi seeking immediate intervention.
The incident has once again raised questions over the quality and hygiene standards maintained in food served to students under government meal schemes. Officials said further action would be taken after the inquiry report is submitted.
