Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th April 2026: The Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a 37-year-old private individual red-handed on Thursday while accepting a bribe of тВ╣40,000. The accused demanded the sum in exchange for facilitating a school admission under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and issuing an application verification receipt.
The accused has been identified as Dnyaneshwar alias Mauli Gangaram Jagtap, a resident of Nandanvan Colony, Chinchwad Nagar.
According to the ACB, the 30-year-old complainant had submitted an online application on March 16, 2026, seeking admission for his daughter under the RTE quota. On April 27, he visited the Fakir Bhai Pansare Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Urdu Primary School in Akurdi to verify his application.
Upon arrival, the complainant was informed that his application had been rejected. During this visit, he met the accused, Jagtap, who acted as an intermediary. Jagtap assured the complainant that he would secure the admission and provide the necessary RTE verification receipt, but demanded a bribe of тВ╣40,000 to get the job done.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACBтАЩs Pune office and lodged a formal complaint on April 29. Acting swiftly on the complaint, ACB officials verified the allegations on April 30. During the verification process at the school in Khandoba Mal, Akurdi, it was confirmed that Jagtap had indeed demanded the bribe and agreed to accept a compromised amount of тВ╣40,000.
Following the confirmation, the ACB team laid a trap at the Fakir Bhai Pansare PCMC Urdu Primary School on Thursday afternoon at around 2:03 PM. Jagtap was caught red-handed on the first floor of the school premises while accepting the тВ╣40,000 bribe amount in the presence of witnesses.
The accused has been taken into custody, and the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, is currently underway at the Nigdi Police Station under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
The trap was successfully executed by Police Inspector Avinash Gharbude and further investigation is being handled by Police Inspector Asawari Shendge. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB Pune) Shirish Sardeshpande, along with Additional SPs Ajit Patil and Arjun Bhosale.
