Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th May 2026: In a major administrative restructuring aimed at improving civic efficiency and citizen services, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to increase the number of its ward offices, also known as regional offices, from the existing eight to 10.
An official order in this regard was issued under the signature of municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi. The newly restructured regional offices have also been assigned names of historic forts from Maharashtra.
According to the civic administration, the decision has been taken considering the cityтАЩs growing population, expansion of geographical jurisdiction and the need to provide faster and more accessible civic services to residents. The move is in line with Section 29-A of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, which provides for the establishment of ward committees based on population.
The proposal to reorganise the existing ward offices and create 10 regional offices was approved during the general body meeting held on March 13, 2026. Following the restructuring, the 32 electoral wards constituted for the PCMC general elections 2025-26 have also been redistributed region-wise under the newly formed ward committees.
The new administrative structure will come into effect from May 25, 2026, the order stated.
Under the revised structure, the regional offices have been named Rajgad, Sinhagad, Vijaydurg, Devgiri, Shivneri, Torna, Purandar, Pratapgad, Raigad and Lohgad.
