Pune, 6th August 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has begun disbursing the ex gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of employees who died in the Moshi garbage depot collapse on July 8. So far, the financial assistance has been credited to the bank accounts of the legal heirs of seven of the nine deceased workers, civic officials said on Thursday.
Municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi said the civic administration is expediting the process as per the directions of mayor Ravi Landge, with the amount being directly transferred to beneficiaries after verification of the required documents.
The families of Akshay Sawant (35), Sunny Mane (39), Rahul Gaikwad (35), Vaman Kasbe (35), Nagesh Gaikwad (26), Sunil Korke (40) and Ranjeet Patil (22) have each received Rs 10 lakh in their bank accounts.
The compensation for the families of Bhavesh Vani and Mahesh Kumbhar, who also died in the incident, is yet to be released as the documentation process is still pending. Suryawanshi said the amount would be transferred immediately after the required documents are submitted and the administrative formalities are completed.

The remaining beneficiaries will also receive the financial assistance as soon as the required documents are received,тАЭ he said.
