Pune, 8th November 2025: Hitendra Malhotra, Member (Operations & Business Development), Railway Board, conducted a detailed inspection of Pune Division, Central Railway, to review ongoing infrastructure, operational, and development projects at key locations. He was accompanied by senior officials including Arvind Malkhede, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Shyam Sunder Gupta, Principal Chief Operations Manager, and Rajesh Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Pune, along with branch officers of the division.
The inspection began at Pune Railway Station, where Malhotra reviewed passenger amenities, the station redevelopment project, and yard remodelling works designed to enhance operational efficiency and passenger handling capacity. He examined the progress of circulating area development, fa├зade improvement, passenger flow management, and upgraded waiting hall facilities.
At the Hadapsar Satellite Terminal, Malhotra assessed the progress of a major infrastructure project aimed at decongesting Pune Station and expanding terminal capacity for originating and terminating trains. Officials briefed him on the current status of civil and operational works at the site.
The inspection continued at the Loni Goods Shed, where freight handling facilities, loading and unloading operations, and digital integration of freight processes were reviewed. Emphasis was placed on improving safety, punctuality, and customer-oriented freight operations to strengthen overall freight performance.
At the Uruli Mega Terminal, Malhotra reviewed the progress of goods handling and infrastructure augmentation under the Gati Shakti initiative, which aims to improve logistics efficiency and multimodal connectivity.
The visit concluded at the Alandi Coaching Terminal, where Malhotra inspected newly developed stabling lines, coach maintenance facilities, and ongoing upgradation works to enhance terminal flexibility and capacity.
