Pune, 8th November 2025: Amid rising speculation over the controversial Mundhwa land transaction, Pune Police have clarified why Parth Pawar, son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has not been named as an accused in the case.
Senior Police Inspector Anil Vibhute, who is leading the investigation, said the First Information Report (FIR) was filed strictly based on documentary evidence and the formal complaint submitted by the Sub-RegistrarтАЩs Office.
тАЬThe offence has been registered against those directly involved in executing or signing the property documents тАФ the seller, the buyer, and the witnesses. Merely holding a 99% partnership in a company does not automatically make someone an accused,тАЭ Vibhute told reporters in Pimpri.
The FIR was registered at Bavdhan police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police as the accused had wrongly shown Mundhwa in Mulshi taluka and registered the land sale documents at the Joint Sub Registrar office in Bavdhan.
Case Registered on Transactional Basis
According to Vibhute, the FIR was filed after verifying the paper trail of the land transfer, ensuring that only those with operational or direct roles in the transaction were named. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to conduct a detailed probe into the financial and legal aspects of the deal.
тАЬWe have registered the case as per the official complaint. Whether or not Parth Pawar had a direct role will be verified during the ongoing investigation,тАЭ he said.
Controversy Over Land Deal
The case pertains to a 40-acre plot at Tadigutta Chowk in Mundhwa, allegedly valued at around тВ╣1,800 crore, purchased by Amadea Enterprises LLP, where Parth Pawar is listed as a 99% stakeholder. The FIR, however, names PawarтАЩs cousin Digvijay Patil, land power of attorney holder Sheetal Tejwani, and others.
This discrepancy has triggered political debate and public criticism, with several opposition leaders questioning why Pawar, as the principal stakeholder, was excluded from the FIR.
EOW Probing Alleged Irregularities
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is also examining the deal for alleged violations involving government-restricted land. Investigators are looking into whether the property was sold below market value and if stamp duty was undervalued during registration.
Vibhute emphasized that no one has been given a clean chit yet, stating that the investigation will proceed purely on the basis of evidence.
The registration department has issued a notice to the company to pay Rs 42 crore for stamp duty and cancellation charges.
