Pimpri-Chinchwad, 8th December 2025: Citizens in the industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad have received significant relief as 54 essential posts for the District and Additional Sessions Courts, along with the Senior Civil Court, have been approved during the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The decision ensures the long-awaited legal infrastructure upgrade for a city with a rapidly growing population.
Welcoming the move, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap described it as a тАЬhistoric decisionтАЭ that will help expedite case disposal and reduce the hardships faced by litigants who currently travel to Pune for major court proceedings.
Jagtap said Pimpri-Chinchwad has expanded swiftly over the years, with its population nearing 35 lakh. Even after approval for a separate District and Sessions Court was secured in a previous cabinet meeting, the project remained stalled due to non-sanctioning of essential staff positions. With the supplementary demands cleared in the legislature, recruitment can now move forward, operationalising both courts.
тАЬFor the past 15 to 20 years, citizens, social organisations and litigants have been demanding local access to justice. Now, they will no longer have to depend on Pune courts. This development marks a major victory for justice in Pimpri-Chinchwad,тАЭ Jagtap said, while extending gratitude to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Mahayuti government for responding to the demand.
The approved posts include judicial, clerical, administrative and support staff positions required for both courts.
Approved positions:
тАв For the Civil Court (Senior Level): Civil Judge (Senior Division), Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Stenographer Grade 2, Senior Clerk, Junior Clerk, Chief Bailiff, Bailiff, Peon and Guard
тАв For the District and Additional Sessions Courts: District Judge, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Stenographer Grade 1, Senior Clerk, Junior Clerk, Bailiff, Driver, Book Binder, Peon, Security Guard and Sweeper
Jagtap added that the appointment process and court setup will now accelerate, ensuring faster hearings and reducing delays affecting thousands of pending cases. тАЬThis will greatly benefit citizens and litigants of PuneтАЩs largest municipal corporation,тАЭ he said.
The long-pending demand appears to be finally turning into reality тАФ marking a major milestone in Pimpri-ChinchwadтАЩs journey toward stronger civic and judicial infrastructure.
