Pimpri Chinchwad, 12th December 2025: The Bhosari police have registered a case against a tax consultant and his associate for allegedly defrauding an engineering firm of Rs 10 lakh by failing to file its GST returns, officials said.
According to police, the firm had hired the duo between 2023 and 2025 to manage its GST submissions. The accused had assured the company that they would complete the filings through the official GST portal.
тАЬBased on the complaint, the firm had appointed the tax consultant and his colleague in 2023 for GST compliance. They assured the management that all returns would be submitted on time,тАЭ said a Bhosari police officer.
The complainant alleged that the duo manipulated the firmтАЩs sales and purchase records to show that no GST was payable. тАЬDespite collecting Rs 10 lakh from the firm under the pretext of submitting GST, the accused did not complete the filings and allegedly misappropriated the money,тАЭ the officer added.
The Bhosari police have booked the tax consultant and his associate under sections 318 (cheating), 316 (criminal breach of trust), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing.
