Pimpri-Chinchwad, 2nd February 2026: A technical failure occurred on Monday afternoon at the 220 kV Bhosari extra high voltage (EHV) substation of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MahaTransco), affecting power supply in parts of the Bhosari and Pimpri divisions of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
According to officials, an internal fault developed around 3 pm in an 80 MVA EHV power transformer at the Bhosari substation. Despite sustained efforts by MahaTransco and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) personnel, the transformer could not be restored. As a result, the 80 MVA load dependent on this unit has been disrupted, impacting electricity consumers in the affected areas.
Areas likely to face power disruption include: Bhosari Gaothan, T Block, General Block, S Block, Shantinagar, Dhawade Vasti, Gulve Vasti, Alandi Road area, and Chakrapani Vasahat.
Emergency arrangements underway
MSEDCL officials in the Bhosari and Pimpri divisions are working on a war footing to restore supply through alternate arrangements. However, since a large load is being shifted to other transmission lines, officials said there could be operational challenges while stabilising the power network. Immediate corrective measures are being implemented to minimise the impact on consumers.
Appeal to consumers
MSEDCL has appealed to electricity consumers to cooperate during the disruption and to use power judiciously while restoration work is in progress.
