Pimpri, 27th Februar 2026: In a major relief for property owners, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will launch a special recovery drive titled ‘Abhay Yojana’ from March 1, offering a substantial 90 percent waiver on penalty charges levied on delayed property tax payments. The scheme will remain in force for a limited period until March 31, 2026.
Property tax is one of the key revenue sources for the civic body, funding essential services such as road development, water supply, healthcare, education, sanitation and other urban infrastructure. Civic officials reiterated that timely payment of property tax is a civic responsibility, as most development works in the city are sustained through this revenue.
According to the civic administration, more than five lakh property holders in the city have responded positively so far, contributing approximately ₹747 crore towards property tax collection. To further accelerate recovery, special teams have been deployed across all 18 ward offices to directly contact defaulters. Awareness campaigns are also being carried out through newspapers, social media and other platforms.
Despite these efforts, around 2.12 lakh property owners are yet to clear their outstanding dues. The municipal administration has repeatedly urged these defaulters to make immediate payments to avoid further action.
Under the Abhay Yojana, property owners with pending dues for residential, non-residential, industrial properties and open plots will be eligible for the 90 percent penalty waiver, provided the entire outstanding amount is paid in a single instalment. The benefit will apply only if the full arrears, including dues for the financial year 2025–26, are cleared between March 1 and March 31, 2026.
Civic officials said the scheme is expected to provide significant financial relief to taxpayers with long-pending dues, while also strengthening the municipal corporation’s revenue position before the close of the financial year.
Mayor Ravi Landge said the Abhay Yojana reflects the civic body’s commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens. “The 90 percent waiver on delayed payment penalties is aimed at reducing the pressure caused by accumulated arrears. Every citizen’s contribution is vital for the city’s development. Property holders should take advantage of this limited-time opportunity and clear their dues before March 31,” he said.
Municipal Commissioner Shravankumar Hardikar said the scheme would be applicable to all categories of properties. “If the outstanding amount is paid in full between March 1 and March 31, a 90 percent concession on penalty charges will be granted. Defaulters should contact their respective ward offices and complete the payment promptly. Once the scheme period ends, regular recovery procedures will resume,” he added.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has appealed to all remaining defaulters to utilise the scheme and contribute towards the city’s continued growth and development.
