Pimpri, 27th February 2026: As part of its efforts to promote sustainability, cleanliness and social responsibility, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has appealed to citizens to deposit unused but usable household items at nearby RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) centres operating across the city.
Civic officials said that during routine household clean-ups, residents often discard old toys, clothes, utensils, electronic items and furniture. When such items are dumped on roadsides or in public spaces, they not only spoil the cityтАЩs appearance but also add to the growing waste burden. However, if these items are collected systematically and redistributed to those in need, they can be reused effectively while also supporting social welfare.
To encourage responsible disposal and reuse, the municipal corporation has established RRR centres at the ward level across Pimpri-Chinchwad. Citizens have been urged to deposit items that are no longer in use but are still in good condition at these centres.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Municipal Commissioner Shravankumar Hardikar and Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate. The project is being executed by the civic health department under Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal and Assistant Commissioner Kirankumar More. RRR centres have been set up at multiple locations under all eight zonal offices of the corporation.
Items collected at these centres are redistributed to needy individuals and organisations, helping reduce waste generation while fostering a culture of reuse. Officials said the initiative has contributed to keeping the city cleaner, lowering environmental stress and strengthening community participation in sustainable practices.
Citizens can deposit books, notebooks, school supplies, clothes in good condition, bedsheets, curtains, toys, educational materials, household items, utensils, furniture, small and large electronic devices, footwear and other reusable items at the RRR centres.
Mayor Ravi Landge said active citizen participation is crucial to building a clean and green city. He appealed to residents to support environmental conservation while extending help to the underprivileged by donating unused household items. He added that the RRR centre initiative strengthens the sense of social responsibility among citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal said the RRR initiative effectively connects cleanliness, environmental protection and social commitment. He urged citizens to respond positively and extend full cooperation to the municipal corporation to ensure the success of the programme.
The civic body reiterated that collective efforts from citizens can significantly contribute to sustainable urban living while ensuring that reusable resources reach those who need them most.
