Pune, 17th March 2026: In a bid to accelerate property tax collection before the end of the financial year, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to keep its tax collection offices open on weekends and public holidays.
With only around 15 days remaining to meet the annual target, the civic body has intensified its recovery drive. To facilitate citizens, the PCMC headquarters and all 18 ward-level tax collection offices will remain operational on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays such as Gudi Padwa or Ram Navami, allowing residents to pay their dues at their convenience, the officials said. Cash counters at all centres will function from 9.45 am to 5.45 pm during this period.
The civic body has urged the defaulters to avail the benefits of amnesty scheme announced last month under which they can avail a 90% waiver on penalties if they clear all their pending dues before March 31.
So far, over five lakh property owners have paid Rs 806.78 crore in property tax. Between March 1 and March 14, more than 17,000 property holders availed benefits of the amnesty scheme. Since its launch, the scheme has led to the collection of Rs 51.11 crore, with penalties worth Rs 13 crore waived.
Municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said special planning has been undertaken to boost tax recovery in the closing days of the financial year. тАЬExtended working days will give citizens more time and flexibility to clear pending as well as current dues,тАЭ he said.
