Pimpri-Chinchwad, 14th April 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced property tax rebates for buildings adopting eco-friendly practices, in a bid to promote sustainable living and strengthen environmental conservation efforts in the city.
The initiative, introduced by the civic bodyтАЩs property tax department, offers concessions on general tax to residential societies and commercial establishments that implement measures such as waste management, sewage treatment and zero-waste systems. Officials said the move is aimed at encouraging citizens to adopt environmentally responsible practices while also providing financial incentives.
As per the policy, buildings with functional on-site composting systems will get a 5% rebate, while those with both composting and sewage treatment plants (STP) will be eligible for an 8% concession. A 3% rebate will be given for operational STPs, while implementing a zero-waste system will fetch an 8% rebate. Buildings that adopt both zero-waste practices and STPs will be eligible for a maximum rebate of 10%.
Deputy municipal commissioner Sachin Pawar said the scheme is intended to incentivise eco-friendly initiatives among citizens. He added that wider adoption of on-site composting, sewage treatment and zero-waste practices would significantly strengthen the cityтАЩs waste management system.
Municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said the civic body is committed to making Pimpri Chinchwad a clean, green and sustainable city, and that such incentives would encourage citizens to invest in eco-friendly infrastructure.
Officials described the scheme as an important step towards improving waste management and promoting sustainable urban development. The civic body has urged residents to avail of the benefits by installing the necessary systems and actively contributing to environmental conservation.
