Pimpri-Chinchwad, 14th June 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated action against Euro School Wakad and Euro School West Campus over allegations that the institutions failed to grant admission to students selected under the 25 per cent quota reserved for economically weaker and disadvantaged sections under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
On June 3, 2026, the PCMC Education Department served a show-cause notice to both schools following complaints from parents regarding delays and denial of admission despite students being allotted seats through the governmentтАЩs RTE admission process.
One parent, in a written complaint submitted to the Education Officer, stated that her child had been allotted a seat under the RTE scheme and that all mandatory documents, including a disability certificate, had been scrutinised and approved by the designated PCMC verification committee. Copies of the required documents were reportedly submitted to the school on April 24.
According to the parent, the school initially called the family for a discussion on May 1 and advised them to remain in contact regarding the admission process. Later, on May 27, the child and his parents attended a meeting with the school principal and counsellor. During the interaction, they were informed that the matter would be referred to the institutionтАЩs corporate management and that a decision would be communicated subsequently.
However, the family alleged that despite repeated follow-ups, the admission has not been finalised and no official written response has been provided by the school.
The Primary Education Department stated in its notice that it had received complaints indicating that students allotted seats through the RTE admission system were not being admitted by the school management.
The department observed that such actions could adversely affect childrenтАЩs statutory right to free and compulsory education as guaranteed under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
The notice instructs the schools to immediately complete the admission process for all eligible students selected under the RTE quota. It further states that any continued delay or refusal could be construed as interference with the implementation of the RTE admission process, potentially causing academic loss to students.
PCMC has warned that non-compliance may invite stringent action, including proceedings for withdrawal of the schoolтАЩs recognition under provisions of the RTE Act. The civic body has also indicated that criminal proceedings may be initiated against those found responsible for violating the law.
The notice was issued by Sangita Bangar, Administrative Officer of the Primary Education Department, PCMC. Copies of the communication have also been forwarded to the Director of Education and the Education Officer of Pune Zilla Parishad for information and necessary action.
