Wakad, 30th December 2025: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rahul Kalate filed his nomination for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Elections 2026 from Ward No. 25 (D), reaffirming his focus on development-led governance in the WakadтАУTathawadeтАУPunawale belt.
Along with Kalate, nominations were also filed from other parts of Ward No. 25. Kunal Vavhalakar of the Republican Party of India (RPI) submitted his papers from Ward No. 25 (A), Reshma Chetan Bhujbal from Ward No. 25 (B), and Shruti Ram Wakadkar from Ward No. 25 (C).
Addressing supporters after filing his nomination, Kalate said the priority would be to speed up infrastructure and civic development works in Wakad, Tathawade and Punawale. He expressed confidence that guidance from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would provide renewed direction and momentum to ongoing and upcoming projects.
Kalate highlighted several development works undertaken in the ward over the past years. According to him, 27 Development Plan roads have been developed, including 15 concrete roads. Footpaths and cycle tracks have been built following urban street design norms to improve connectivity and pedestrian safety.
To strengthen water supply, three water tanks have been constructed in Wakad, Punawale and Tathawade, with one project nearing completion. He also cited the construction of a new CBSE school building in Wakad, development of a badminton court, creation of an Oxygen Park in Punawale, and the Late Tanaji Kalate Garden in Wakad.
Additional works include new drainage lines and water pipelines, enhancement of sewage treatment plant capacity, installation of CCTV cameras, measures to reduce river pollution, traffic management initiatives, and renovation of the crematorium.
