Punawale, 6th January 2026: With a resolve to accelerate development works, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched its election campaign in Ward 25 (WakadтАУTathawadeтАУPunawale) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday. The campaign began with a padyatra in Punawale Gaothan, led by BJP candidate Rahul Tanaji Kalate.
The padyatra started from Kal Bhairavnath Temple and passed through Borge Wada, Oval Vasti and Savatamali Temple before concluding at Punawale Highway Chowk. During the march, Kalate interacted directly with residents, listening to local issues and seeking public support. BJP office-bearers, party workers and citizens participated in large numbers.
Speaking during the outreach, Kalate referred to his two-decade-long political journey, stating that his struggle has always been centred on public issues rather than personal interests. He said he has consistently raised concerns related to water supply, roads, dust and pollution, civic amenities and planned development in the area. Citizens pay taxes and, in return, deserve quality civic facilities, he added.
Outlining his priorities, Kalate said that winning an election is not the sole objective, but bridging the development gap in the ward and ensuring sustained progress is more important. He expressed confidence that development could be accelerated with the support of a capable government, citing the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
At the conclusion of his address, Kalate appealed to citizens to vote in large numbers, assuring them that he remains committed to resolving local issues on a permanent basis. He said he would continue to work as a grassroots representative who stands by his word and maintains public trust.
Residents of Punawale responded positively to the padyatra. Several local leaders and BJP functionaries, including Kunal Vavhalkar, Shruti Ram Wakadkar, Reshma Chetan Bhujbal, Chetan Bhujbal, Navnath Dhawale, Ram Wakadkar and Vishal Kalate, were present along with party workers and supporters.
Chetan Bhujbal, OBC President of BJP, PCMC, expressed confidence that the entire BJP panel from Ward 25 would emerge victorious under KalateтАЩs leadership. He said Kalate had previously delivered effective work as a corporator and that party workers would support him in taking forward PunawaleтАЩs development.
Kalate said that despite several challenges, development projects such as water tanks, DP roads, oxygen parks and open gyms had been completed. He added that many works are still pending and reiterated his focus on providing the best possible civic amenities to residents of the ward.
