Chakan, 7th May 2026: Industrial representatives from MIDC Chakan Phase-2 on Wednesday raised concerns over inadequate public transport connectivity for workers during a meeting with senior officials of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), seeking immediate measures to improve bus services in the area.
The meeting, organised by the Federation of Chakan Industries at OEN India Ltd in Chakan Phase-2, was attended by around 50 representatives from industries operating in the industrial belt along with senior PMPML officials.
Industry representatives said thousands of workers commuting to factories in Chakan Phase-2 continue to face difficulties due to insufficient public transport facilities, especially during peak shift hours. Discussions during the meeting focused on identifying gaps in existing bus connectivity, introducing new routes, increasing bus frequency and improving last-mile transport access for employees.
Officials from PMPML who attended the meeting included zonal manager Rajesh Jadhav, Bhosari depot manager Ashok Sable, headquarters official Ramdas Virnak, ADM Nigdi Machhindra Titkare and planning department official Navnath Badhe from Swargate.
Dilip Batwal, chief executive officer of the Federation of Chakan Industries, said the lack of reliable public transport was affecting both workers and industries in the region. тАЬThousands of employees depend on public transport for daily commute. We expect practical and quick measures to improve connectivity in Chakan Phase-2,тАЭ he said.
The federation said it would continue discussions with PMPML and follow up on the proposed action plan to improve transport facilities for industrial workers.
