Chakan, 9th October 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated a major push to ease traffic congestion in the industrial hub of Chakan in Khed taluka. A total of 40.74 km of road projects, worth Rs 558.12 crore, have been administratively approved and are being prioritized. Technical scrutiny, tender processes, and land acquisition are underway for different stretches.
Technical Scrutiny Works (Rs 196.50 crore)
The Chief Minister has approved six key stretches as special projects to improve traffic flow in Khed taluka, covering 17.69 km at an estimated cost of Rs 196.50 crore:
Dhamane Phata to Z.P. School-Koye, 2 km тАУ Rs 8.00 crore
Kohinde Phata to Kadus Gavthan, 5.60 km тАУ Rs 20.00 crore
Kadus Gavthan to Kivale, 5.50 km тАУ Rs 20.00 crore
Bhose Ra.Ma.55 to Vadgaon Ghenand, 1.20 km тАУ Rs 5.00 crore
Kivale to Ambethan, 0.89 km тАУ Rs 3.50 crore
Dehu Yelawadi, 2.5 km тАУ Rs 104.00 crore
Tender Advertisement Works (Rs 100.14 crore)
PMRDA has floated tenders for another 17.70 km of roads worth Rs 100.14 crore to address congestion around Chakan Chowk:

Kuruli Phata to Nighoje, 2.50 km тАУ Rs 15.50 crore

Several stretches are under land acquisition, totaling 5.35 km and costing Rs 261.48 crore:
Talegaon-Chakan Highway (50 Hingne Chowk to Chakan Industrial Estate Phase 3) тАУ 0.90 km, Rs 24.65 crore
Mauje Nanekarwadi to Samruddhi CNG Pump, 1.2 km тАУ Rs 33.40 crore
Mauje Medankarwadi (Bangla Vasti Chowk to Raase Phata), 2.5 km тАУ Rs 111.75 crore
Western Bypass: Pune-Nashik NH 60 to Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, 0.75 km тАУ Rs 91.68 crore
Eviction Drives in Chakan
As part of the development initiative, PMRDA has also carried out eviction actions in Chakan:
Unauthorized constructions demolished: 347
Evicted holdings: 81
Total: 428
The comprehensive approach of road construction, land acquisition, and strict eviction measures aims to decongest Chakan, a major industrial hub, and improve the overall traffic flow in Khed taluka.
