Wakad, 28th December 2025: A New Year welcome get-together organised by the Rahul Kalate Foundation in Wakad saw residents and IT professionals expressing support for former corporator Rahul Kalate and welcoming his recent decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Participants said they expect the move to accelerate development works in the Wakad, Tathawade and Punawale areas under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
The event, titled “Citizen Meet”, was attended by a large number of local residents and IT professionals working in the Hinjawadi IT Park and nearby areas. Attendees discussed civic issues affecting the region, infrastructure development, and expectations ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.
Several citizens present at the meet said Kalate’s political decision would help bring greater focus on local development, improve civic amenities, and provide relief to taxpayers in the rapidly growing Wakad-Hinjawadi belt.

Discussions during the programme also centred on local infrastructure challenges, urban growth, and the relationship Kalate has maintained with residents during his tenure as a corporator. Participants actively engaged in the dialogue and reiterated their support for his social and political work in the PCMC area.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Kalate said the support and cooperation of citizens had enabled him to contribute to development initiatives in Wakad, Tathawade, Punawale and surrounding localities. He added that public trust and participation would continue to be his strength in future public work.
Kalate recently joined the BJP, a move that has generated considerable political discussion in Pimpri Chinchwad. The Citizen Meet, held as part of New Year 2026 celebrations, drew attention amid growing interest in the local political landscape ahead of municipal elections.
